Nerve is damaged with the vasculitis neuropathy but the tissue at risk is a border zone in the proximal to the middle section of the nerve.

DIAGNOSIS

  • It can be diagnosed easily from clinical features because it has prominent features like  multifocal axonal neuropathy. In electromyography one can easily see in patients of vasculitis neuropathy is high motor unit action potentials.
  • Nerve biopsy method can be used if other parameters do not give any result. Alternative to this biopsy is the combined biopsy of the superficial peroneal nerve .

AYURVEDIC VIEW

Ayurveda is considered to be “divine science” because of its origin and the effects seen in patients with chronic disease and other diseases are just unimaginable. In ayurveda vasculitis  neuropathy can be correlated with the Siragatvata . In ayurveda it is believed that if vata is in its own site and does not vitiate and is in its natural state then the person lives many years with good health. But sometimes this vata is vitiated and can cause many diseases and  disorders. Siragat vata means aggravation of vata dosha in sira.

Clinical Features of Sira Vata in Ayurveda

  1. Manda ruk- mild pain
  2. Shopham- oedema in the body
  3. Shushayate spandane - throbbing pain and lack of pulsation in vessels
  4. Thinness and excessive thickness of the vessels.

Many ayurvedic therapies like vran aprakarshan, niruha basti, anuvasana basti can give better results than any other pathy. These procedures are included in panchkarma and it gives effective results to the patient of vasculitic neuropathy. The herbal medications were also mentioned in ayurvedic books which explains their effective result.

CONCLUSION

In 30-50% patients of vasculitis neuropathy they show signs of peripheral neuropathy. In allopathy medicine steroids are used in treatment of vasculitis neuropathy and immunosuppressive drugs are used which have side effects on the patients health. To avoid these effects patients can use ayurvedic medicine in treatment of  these diseases and get benefitted correctly. Ayurvedic herbal medications are very effective because they directly affect the cause rather than treating symptoms. It means once the cause is removed from the body of the patients it can not occur again. In recent years many more individuals are influenced towards ayurvedic treatment and shown their interest.
