What is Tithi in Hindu Calender
by Astro Ved Online Astrology ConsultationPratipada is the first
date of the Lunar month. Every Lunar month has 30 dates. There are two Pakshas
in a Lunar month, Shukla Paksha and Krishna Paksha. Each Paksha has fourteen
dates. The first date of each Paksha is Pratipada. In Hindu Panchanga, it is
the first date.
How is Pratipada
Calculated?
From Pratipada of
Shukla Paksha, the moon commences its movement towards fullness. The difference
of Moon from Sun is 0 to 12 Degrees. This difference of 12 degrees constitutes
one Tithi, which is called Pratipada of Shukla Paksha. The other Pratipada,
which falls in Krishna Paksha, is from 180 degrees to 192 degrees.
Deity of
Pratipada Tithi
Each Tithi has its own
deity. Agni is the deity of PratipadaTithi. A native born on this Tithi should
worship Agni as it can benefit them.

and Tuesday, it is regarded as death-giving; hence, any auspicious work should
not be done on this day. But, if Pratipada falls on a Friday, it is considered
Siddha, and any work done on this day will bring success and good results.
Pratipada of Bhadrapada month is regarded as zero. Shiva resides in the
cremation ground, so Pratipada of Shukla Paksha is seen as death-giving.

Mantra and doing Rudrabhishek gives auspicious results.
