Phosphor bronze cannot be hardened or increased in strength by heat treatment. It can only be strengthened by cold-working work hardening methods. It is generally used for elastic components, but still cannot be used with beryllium copper In comparison, phosphor bronze generally needs nickel plating, beryllium copper needs heat treatment to obtain good elasticity, beryllium copper is much more expensive than phosphor bronze.
