What is Sweatcoin and how does it work?
by Hridoy Ahmed Search Engine Optimization(SEO)Whether you
are looking for motivation to be more active or if you are already a fitness a fan who would not mind some additional benefits to exercise, Sweatcoin is A great way to earn rewards for moving your body. That said, there is always a
lot of confusion about anything related to digital currency (also known as
cryptocurrency), much less the actual application and its functions.
Bogged down
with arcane terms like cryptocurrency and blockchain, it may seem more
complicated than it is. However, overcome the puzzling vocabulary and Sweatcoin
is quite simple. To help examine the jargon, we have created this simple
explanatory.
What exactly is Sweatcoin?
As mentioned
earlier, Sweatcoin is a digital currency that earns by
being active. To accumulate it, you must first download the Sweatcoin
application and keep it running on your phone at all times. Every time you walk
or run outside, follow your steps and pay you with sweat coins (SWC). For every
1,000 steps you take, earn just under 1 SWC.
After
accumulating enough SWC, you can redeem them for items such as sports watches,
Amazon credits, music downloads, e-books, airline miles or gift certificates to
various retailers. The offers are constantly changing and are largely based on
the offers Sweatcoin has made with several retailers. All these transactions
can be seen through the Sweatcoin application, available for free on both iOS
and Android, although you can use your sweatcoins to upgrade to different
subscription levels.
Far from being a perfect system
However,
there are some limitations to the application. First, to accumulate SWC, you
must run or walk: activity monitoring is based solely on the steps, so cycling
or swimming will not earn any currency. You must also be outside to accumulate
SWC, which means that running on a treadmill or climbing stairs in the gym will
also not count, although some reports say you record the steps around the
house. The reason for this restriction is to avoid ways to hack the system
indoors. The company says it is currently developing an algorithm to address
this problem.
Another limitation is that you should always be connected to your phone, so if you go
for a walk and forget your device, or if you are someone who prefers jogging
without charging the phone, you are not lucky. Currently, there is no way to
synchronize the application with any smartwatch or physical activity monitor,
and the company has not yet announced any type of plan for this type of
compatibility.
