An inverter battery is a device consisting of one or more electro chemical cells coupled together to provide continuous power supply in case of power cuts. An ampere hour (abbreviated Ah) is the amount of energy charge in a battery that will allow one ampere of current to flow for one hour. Generally the AH is taken on a 20 hour basis. For instance, if a battery is specified at 100 AH then it means that 5 Ampere of current will flow every hour for 20 hours.
