What Are the Various Types of Rendering Systems Available?

by William Jones manager

Building material manufacturers are constantly creating new ways of mixing minerals and chemicals to generate significant products for use on-site - sometimes for easy application, but often for better performance and reduced care.

Render is one such product; nevertheless, the technical language often used for modern systems confuses many self-builders and renovators. To clarify, this article will go through the different types of rendering systems, their features and benefits, and which is right for you.

Conventional rendering

Render is the initial layer of plaster that is put to a brick or stone surface. At its most basic, this was achieved by combining cement, sand, and aggregates to form a concrete mixture. Unfortunately, the finished result isn't particularly long-lasting, high-performing, or attractive - but it served its basic purpose of concealing brickwork before the rise of modern renderings.

Mineral rendering

Mineral rendering in Box Hill, as opposed to conventional rendering, is cement-based with lime and polymers added in for better water resistance, flexibility, and breathability. While it is clearly the most affordable modern alternative, the end result is still quite porous, demanding an additional coating to safeguard it from rain.

Acrylic rendering

Acrylic rendering in  Rowville is made by adding an acrylic resin to the blend. This type of rendering is more flexible & water-resistant than conventional render, however, it does have certain drawbacks due to the acrylic ingredients.

Silicone rendering

Silicone rendering, like acrylic rendering, is cement-based with silicone added in for performance improvements. It makes the render extremely low-maintenance and water-resistant, yet it does not impair breathability as acrylic rendering in Blackburn does.

Monocouche rendering

Monocouche rendering is a one-of-a-kind system consisting of a 4mm base and an 11mm topping of monocouche mix. The mono base layer features a mesh and a high-polymer composition for better adherence, followed by 11mm of monocouche render in a range of colours.

Lime rendering

Lime rendering, which has seen a rebirth in the last decade, is one of the most unique varieties of render. This form of rendering in Cheltenham offers a distinct, natural look and is more breathable than some of its rivals.

Cork-based rendering

A cork-based system is the last type of render. Rather than using potentially harmful materials, this method applies a completely natural cork infusion. This form of rendering benefits from better adhesion, flexibility, and breathability, as well as improved water resistance, due to the natural properties of cork.

They also offer the added benefits of fire resistance, thermal insulation, and noise reduction that other renders simply do not have. To top it all off, cork-based rendering in Blackburn is completely eco-friendly, as no trees are cut down to harvest the cork-rich bark.

Hope, you came to know the different types of rendering options and what’s best for you. If you find this piece of content useful, don’t forget to share it with your friends, and back to us for more exciting content!
