What Are The US Tourist Visa Requirements?

by Taylor Bartleyy Best Visa Consultancy

The B-1/B-2 visitor visa is for people travelling to America temporarily for pleasure, business, or medical purposes. Generally, the B-1 visa is granted to travellers consulting with business associates, and attending educational, professional, business or scientific conferences. The B-2 visa is for travellers travelling to the USA for recreational purposes, including tourism, visiting friends or relatives and medical treatments. Often B-1/B-2 visas are issued as one visa called B-1/B-2 visa. So, we can say one has to apply for a US tourist visa to enter and stay in the US.

American Tourist Visa Requirements:

If you apply for a US tourist visa, you must demonstrate to the consular officer that you qualify for a tourist visa according to the US immigration and nationality act. Section 214 (B) of the US immigration and nationality act presumes that every B-1/B-2 traveller is an intending immigrant.

You must overcome this by demonstrating the following things:

  • That the purpose of your visit to America is temporary, such as pleasure, medical, or business
  • That you plan to remain in the country for a limited period of the time
  • Establish that you have enough funds to cover expenses while in the country.
  • That you have a residence outside the United States and other bindings, such as economic or social ties that will ensure your return at the end of your visit.
  • Crew members and personal or domestic employees working aboard vessels within the outer continental shelf may qualify for B-1 visas under certain circumstances.

Documents to Attach:

  • A non-immigrant visa electronic application form (DS-160)
  • A valid passport with a validity of six months beyond your period of stay in the United States.
  • One (1) 2”x2” photograph was taken within the last six months.
  • A receipt showing payment of your application processing fee paid in local currency

In addition to these items, you must present an interview letter confirming that you have booked an appointment. You can also bring additional documents that you think support the information provided to the consular officer. Once you have finished with the US tourist visa requirements, you are ready to submit your application.

How to Apply For US Tourist Visa

  • Pay the application fee.
  • To schedule your appointment, you will require the following information to schedule your appointment:

          Passport number

          The visa fee receipt number

And ten digit bar code number from your DS-160 confirmation page.

  • Visit the US consulate or embassy at the given time and date of your interview.
  • You must bring your DS-160 confirmation page, your appointment letter, one photograph taken within the last six months and your current valid and all old passports.

Supporting Documents:

Supporting documents are one of the many factors a consular officer will consider during your interview. The officer looks at each application individually and considers social, professional, cultural and other factors during adjudication. The consular may look at your family situation, intentions and long-term plans within your country of residence. It is imperative to note that never present false documents because it can result in permanent visa ineligibility.
