  • Expression: This process is used when it comes to extracting the essential oils of different types of citrus fruits. In the process, the peel of the fruit is scrapped or grated for releasing the oil. The process of expression is commonly used for extracting oil from a lemon. It needs to be mentioned that in the process of expression, no heat is used.

 

  • Supercritical CO2 Extraction: In this process, carbon dioxide is used as the main solvent. This is a much more complex process, as opposed to the ones already mentioned. Different types of chemical molecules are used in CO2 extraction.
