What are the different kinds of OT Tables and positions?

by Anuj Oza Hospital Equipment Provider

Operating tables are the centerpiece of any operating service. They deliver a sterile, clean setting for operating procedures and support doctors perform their work more professionally.

What is an Operating Table?

An operating table made by OT Table Manufacturers is a huge, flat surface that surgeons use to perform operations and on which a patient lies during an operating procedure. It is naturally mounted on a plinth or base so that it can be raised and lowered as needed.

The exterior of the table is usually germ-free and clean, which helps keep patients safe during surgery and prevents infections.

Operating tables are mainly used in hospitals, ambulatory surgery centers, and other healthcare amenities that conduct operations.

What Are The Likely Positions on a Surgical Table?

There are a diversity of operating table positions that may be used for different invasive operations.

  • Supine position: This is a position that contains the patient lying flat on their back. The elevation of the operating table may be elevated or lowered to match the surgeon's stature.

  • Prone position: Here, the patient is now placed on his or her abdominal, with his or her head in a face positioner. This bearing is perfect for spine operations, among other things.

  • Lateral position: In this position, the patient is positioned on the side opposite to the section being operated on. To evade falls, the patient is held in place with bands. Hip or kidney operations, for instance, are suitable in this posture.

  • Trendelenburg position: This is a deviation of the prostrate position. In this position, the operating table is inclined, with the patient's lower members higher than his or her head. This stance is ideal for stomach surgery because it allows for better organ viewing.

  • Reverse Trendelenburg position: The Trendelenburg position is alike to this position, but the lower limbs of the patient are inferior to the head in this position. For instance, this carriage makes it easy to perform head and neck operations.

Kinds Of Operating Tables

There are two chief kinds of operating tables available with OT Table Suppliers, i.e universal and specialized tables.

Universal Operating Tables

These kinds of surgical tables are widely used in a variety of surgical treatments, counting cardiac surgery, pediatrics, gynecology, gall bladder surgery, and plastic surgery.

A universal operating table is not absorbed by a single facet. Rather, it is intended for adaptability and variation across a broad array of operations

Universal surgical tables can often be attuned for height and length, slanted to either side, and horizontally tilted. The head segment of most general tables is removable and may be used with a diversity of headrests.

Specialized Operating Tables

There are numerous kinds of specialized operating tables. Some of them are:

1. Gynecological Operating Tables

Gynecological tables are intended for operations and treatments specific to the female reproductive system. These operating tables come in a diversity of shapes and sizes, but they characteristically have features that make placing patients easier and more comfortable. For instance, gynecological tables often include an angled segment that permits surgeons better access to the patient's pelvic area.

2. Orthopedic Operating Tables

Another category of an operating table, the orthopedic table, is made to deliver simple manipulation and flexibility in orthopedic procedures. Surgeons must have constricted control and suppleness while moving the patient during an orthopedic operation. Orthopedic tables permit full admission and freedom of motion.

3. Ophthalmic Operating Tables

Ophthalmic operating tables bought from OT Table Dealers are particularly intended to support eye surgery. These surgical tables have singular features that permit easy positioning of the patient during cataracts or corneal transplant surgeries.
