What are the design parameters in the pressure relief valves?

The pressure relief valves are also known by the name of safety relief valve India are a type of safety equipment pressure adjusting device that kicks into action when the pressure or the temperature inside the pressurized equipment becomes too much.

It can relieve all the excess pressure that can be comprised of fluid such as gas or liquid substances like water through an outlet.

Pressure relief valve manufacturers manufacture each safety valve according to the requirements of a device. They are made to trigger when the internal pressure or temperature exceeds a preset temperature or pressure.

A pressure relief valve can be made to work in both ways that are allowing the fluid such as water or air to flow inside the equipment on a drop in pressure of the fluid inside the device chamber or even make the excess pressure run out of the device in case the pressure exceeds the normal working parameters of the device.

There are a couple of factors that have to be taken into consideration by the safety relief valve manufacturers India for manufacturing a pressure relief valve.

But before that, we will take a look at the various elements of a pressure relief valve.

What are the internal components of a safety relief valve?

A pressure relief valve consists of three basic components with each one having a specific role to play in the erring of the entire pressure relieving system.

These include-

The valve

The valve is the outlet for the excess pressurized fluid to flow out of the chamber of the device or equipment. It is designed using an elastomeric seal on a valve seat.

Sensing element

There is always the need for a sensing device inside the chamber that can accurately measure the internal conditions such as the temperature and the pressure of the device. This is highly crucial and is generally attached with an electronic pressure indicator device system that gives the person accurate measurements of the internal conditions.

The sensing element or the piston can also be controlled manually or through an electronic system to allow the pressure to increase or decreased based on the need.

Referencial force element

The spring delivers the required amount of sensing element or the piston and also acts to close the valve. They are sometimes made to adjust according to inputs made by switches and buttons of a device.

The design parameters to consider for a safety relief valve

Flow requirement

The flow rate of the fluid might vary within the chamber based on which the safety relief valve manufacturers design the safety valve.

The type of fluid used 

The internal fluid might be made of a gaseous substance such as air or a liquid substance such as water or petrol. The properties of the fluid substance have also to be taken into consideration while manufacturing the safety valves.

Size of the chamber and the outlet to be used

The more the size of the chamber the higher the pressure levels it can easily sustain. Based on this the diameter of the relief outlet also has to design.
