Website Says Best Ceiling Fans Cheaper Alternative to Air Conditioning

Americans can gain more savings by substituting ceiling fans for air conditioning, especially when it is not overly humid, according to a website that reviews the best ceiling fans in the market.

“A ceiling fan is a great substitute for air conditioning, as it makes the air circulate around the room,” the website Best Ceiling Fans Reviews said in a statement.

The website added that unlike air conditioning units that use a lot of electricity, ceiling fans are more efficient in energy demand. “Ceiling fans use roughly the same amount of energy it takes to light a 100-watt bulb,” it explained.

It said that while a ceiling fan cannot lower room temperature the way an air conditioning unit does, it does make people feel cooler. “Moving air speeds up the rate at which perspiration evaporates from the skin. Increased evaporation means more heat is leaving the body,” it added.

The website advises budget-conscious consumers shopping for ceiling fans to buy one that has a switch to control the direction of the blades’ rotation.  It adds that blades which turn in a counterclockwise rotation can achieve the wind-chill effect that evaporates more moisture from the skin and making people feel cooler.

In shopping for a ceiling fan, the website also recommends that consumers consider first the size of the room where the appliance would be utilized.  The best ceiling fan, it said, is one that is appropriate for the room where it will be used.
