by Kate Bale Scaffold SupplierIf you are going to build a high tunnel, a hoop house or a greenhouse, you may wonder how the plastic in the greenhouse joins the metal frame.
There are four main ways of joining greenhouse plastic to the metal frame:
There are several ways available to install greenhouse plastic in metal structure structures. The four main forms are listed below, and more details about each method are provided:
Single lock channel made of polyethylene and spring wire
Double channel Poly Lock and Spring Wire
Pressure clamps
Rope and pressure
While the above list provides the necessary hardware to join the greenhouse plastic to the metal frame, some of the previous elements would make more sense in different scenarios. In addition, each of the above methods for joining greenhouse plastic should be installed a little differently than the following.
Let's review each fixing method one at a time below and cover its best uses, where in the frame each component should be installed and how it actually joins the greenhouse frame.
1. Spring polyethylene blocking channel - Single channel
The first and most popular plastic greenhouse fixing hardware on the market is Spring Wire Poly Lock Channel. Below is an image of this piece of hardware along with the corresponding piece of cable that holds the plastic in place. If you like its appearance, you can find the channel's product page, here.
Screw the channel to the metal
While the Spring Wire Poly Lock Channel is very easy to use to secure the greenhouse plastic, the channel itself must first be attached to the metal frame of its structure at any point where you want the plastic to be secured.
