  • About the temple: Siddhivinayaka is one of the oldest Temple in Mumbai, dedicated to Lord Ganesha. It was built in the year 1801 by Laxman Vithu and Deu Bai Patil. Originally the temple was a modest 3.6 sqm. brick structure but now it has turned up into a magnificent five storey structure with gold plated domes. The wooden doors are carved with images of Ashtavinayak. Lord Hanuman's temple is also situated within the temple premises.

  • Statue of Lord Ganesha: The Statue of Lord Ganesha is believed to be self-manifested. The idol carved from black stone is 2.5 feet high and 2 feet wide. It's a three-eyed idol with its trunk tilted on the right side. As the idol has 4 arms it is known as Chaturbhuj. The Goddesses Riddhi and Siddhi accompany Lord Ganesha.

  • Timings and entry: The temple opens every day at 5:30 a.m. and closes by 10:00 p.m. Avoid Tuesday, Saturday and Sunday as the temple is overcrowded on these days. It's advisable to visit the temple during the afternoons. There are two Gates from which devotees can enter the temple premises, the Siddhi and the Riddhi Gate.

  • How to reach: Siddhivinayak temple is an easily accessible Temple. B.E.S.T buses from any part of the city reach Prabhadevi. Alternatively, you can choose a cab, local train or a private car.   • Special pooja services: For special Darshan Pooja (Ashirvachan Pooja) devotees need to book from the Pooja booking counter inside the temple or can book online from the official website of the temple. This Puja is performed between 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., the duration is approximately 5 to 10 minutes and the amount to be paid is Rs1001/- for 2 to 4 persons. Special features of the temple:

  • The temple arranges special Darshan for senior citizens, a mother with an infant in arms, physically challenged individuals, NRIs and Foreigners.

  • The temple also provides facilities like drinking water, wheelchair, medicals and footwear stand.

  • To avoid the crowd, you can avail the paid Darshan for rupees 50 per person.
