Bhubaneswar...at it’s Cultural Best!

by Manish Kumar Marketing Head

Bhubaneswar, the capital of Odisha, can also be called as one of the cultural capitals of our country. No matter what month it is, the cultural festivals are always on in this city. It is really great to see and feel that there are such places which give immense importance to our traditional cultural heritage. Be it in terms of dance, music or the beautiful temples.

I, an aspirant Kathak dancer, got one of the biggest opportunities of my career. I got the chance to perform solo at a very famous dance festival in Bhubaneswar, last month. There was no limit to my happiness; there was no limit even to my nervousness. The reason being, there was no choice other than performing the best, as best of the young classical dancers had been invited to perform and well-renowned critics were to be present to give a review for each and every performance. In short, it was immense happiness with a tinge tension; or rather nervousness.

I came to Bhubaneswar by train. I came to the city a day before my performance. I was glad that my accommodation was booked in one of the hotels in Bhubaneswar near the railway station, which clearly saved my time. The hotel was a very nice one. It was a budget hotel which had all the amenities I could ask for. Strangely, I got a very nice and a warm vibe from the hotel. I took that as a positive indication for the purpose I am here for.

I took some rest, freshened up and went up to the very famous Ravindra Bhavan Auditorium of Bhubaneswar. This was the venue of the prestigious festival. My performance was next day, but the festival was a 3-day festival and I wanted to watch other people performing too. My first ended with a lot of inspiration and motivation from the performances I watched and retired the day back to my hotel at Nayapalli, which was one the most decent hotels in Nayapalli, Bhubaneswar.

The day dawned on me with the sun rays glistening past the windows falling directly on my face, pushing me to get up and see how the whole world was waiting for my performance. This figment of my imagination helped me to activate myself from my sleep and to help me start my preparations.

Finally, it was showtime. My performance went off extremely well. The thing that made me extremely happy was, that not only senior personalities appreciated me, people of my age or even younger than me congratulated and conveyed their best wishes to me. Bhubaneswar gave me what I had been aspiring to be and motivated me to work harder to achieve such achievements in bigger numbers.
