Useful Tips to Help You Purchase an Excavator

by Kristen White Blogger
Before you buy a new excavator or buy JCB parts online it is important to know the specifics you need to look for. Otherwise, you might fall for anything leading to regrets. If you make the right choice you will end up more productive and have a positive impact on your business. Here are tips to consider before buying an excavator.

The Size and Weight

To get the right size and weight you need to know the kind of workload you are going to deal with and the requirements of the application. There are three sizes you can go for: mini (compact) size that ranges from zero to six metric tonnes, mid-size that ranges from six to ten metric tons and full-size(standard) that ranges from ten to ninety metric tons.

Hydraulics

What attachments do you plan to work with? If you apply the right attachments you will get the best service out of your excavator. This will help determine the hydraulics you want to use. A machine’s coupler will help you know the type of attachments to use. So, you need to ask the seller about them.

Transportation

You should know the capacity the excavator will need to be transported. Consider the size of the trailer you have for transportation. Also, there are roads that limit the weight you can carry on them. This requires that you know how much weight the excavator has.

Controls

The operator has a role to play when choosing the right excavator. What is their preference for the control panels? If you get an excavator that has an adjustable panel then that would be great.

Operator Comfort

Sitting in the excavator cab for 10 hours is no joke. Comfort ergonomics, therefore, become essential to be productive. Look for factors in the cab that will make the operation smooth and productive.

Tracks and Undercarriage

What track options are available? You should know the material used to make the tracks like steel or rubber. Steel tracks are more durable. You also need to choose the right size (width and depth)

The Right Engine

There are varieties of engines that are used in excavators – even from the same brand. You should, therefore, know the differences and the impact of every engine. Also, be careful with the technology application of a certain engine. There are technologies that will be impossible to repair in case of complications. Look for engines that can be replaced, efficient with fuel and with a warranty from the manufacturer.

Extra Features

Modern excavators have extra feature inclusions like LED lights, rearview cameras, power modes, and many other machine control features that can make you more efficient in your operations.

Dealer Choice

You need a dealer that will be available to support you long term. Because it is through the dealer that you can get repairs, parts and general service. Look for one who has been around for a while with the right connections.

Warranties

You need to sign some contracts with your dealer and get a generous warranty period. This will protect your investment in buying an excavator and also when you buy JCB parts online. Most manufacturers offer warranty and maintenance programs but you must inquire to get the best deal.
