Understanding the Calculation of Astrological Progressions

by Carolina Johnson Marketing Specialist

Astrological progressions are an essential tool used by astrologers to predict future events and gain insight into a person's life path. These progressions are calculated by looking at the movement of the planets in the sky, and how they interact with a person's birth chart. Let’s dive deeper into the calculation of astrological progressions and know how they can be used to gain a better understanding of one's life.

·         What are Astrological Progressions?

Astrological progressions are a way of predicting how the planets will move through a person's birth chart over time. The movement of the planets in the sky is a key indicator of how a person's life will progress, and the calculation of astrological progressions allows astrologers to make predictions about a person's future based on this movement.

There are two main types of astrological progressions: secondary progressions and solar arc progressions. Secondary progressions are based on the movement of the Sun, Moon, and planets through a person's birth chart over time, while solar arc progressions are based on the movement of the Sun through the zodiac.

·         Calculating Secondary Progressions

To calculate secondary progressions, an astrologer will take the person's birth chart and move it forward in time, one day for every year of the person's life. This means that if a person is 30 years old, the astrologer will move their birth chart forward by 30 days to calculate their secondary progressions.

Once the birth chart has been moved forward, the astrologer will look at the positions of the planets in the new chart and compare them to the positions in the birth chart. This comparison will reveal how the planets have progressed over time and how they are likely to influence a person's life in the future.

·         Calculating Solar Arc Progressions

Solar arc progressions are calculated by adding the same number of degrees to every planet in the person's birth chart. This number of degrees is equal to the number of days that have passed since the person's last birthday.

For example, if a person's birthday is on January 1st and today is March 31st, 90 days have passed since their last birthday. To calculate their solar arc progressions for this date, an astrologer would add 90 degrees to every planet in their birth chart.

·         Interpreting Astrological Progressions

Once the calculation of astrological progressions is done, the astrologer will use them to gain insight into the person's life path and make predictions about their future. The positions of the planets in the new chart will reveal how the person's life is likely to progress and what events they can expect to encounter.

For example, if the secondary progressions show that the person's Sun has moved into their 7th house of partnerships, the astrologer may predict that they will meet someone important in their life soon. If the solar arc progressions show that the person's Mars has moved into their 10th house of career, the astrologer may predict that they will experience a major breakthrough in their professional life.

It is important to note that the calculation of astrological progressions should never be used to predict events with certainty. Instead, they should be used as a tool to gain insight into a person's life path and make informed decisions about their future.
