Types Of Services Offered Along With Logbook Servicing

by Ronnie Matt Marketing Manager
When it comes to car servicing, one thing that car owners need to understand is that in Australia there are different kinds of services offered to them. This is their responsibility to understand all these kinds so that they can give better care and maintenance to their vehicle by opting for the most appropriate service kind. Of course, there is logbook servicing that is offered by authorised service centres when the vehicle is in warranty, but other than this, there are different kinds of services as well that are being discussed here in this post.

Level 1: Safety Service
  • According to those offering 4wd repairs and services, this is the most basic and minimum service that you can avail for your vehicle.
  • This one is the service that vehicle owners would love to avail in case, for that present moment, they are in some shortage of money.
  • However, the steps included in this type of service would amaze anyone because it has all the most important and required steps needed by a vehicle.
  • This would include every basic step like replacing your engine oil, oil filter, checking under your bonnet, topping-up fluids, inspecting belts and hoses and testing the battery.
  • Other than this, in this type of service, you can even get a vehicle safety inspection done along with hand-brake adjustment, charging system check and cooling system check.
  • This is certainly the most affordable option in terms of logbook servicing, but this safety service would be needed after a year or at least, 15,000 kms.

Level 2: Major Service
  • According to those offering services related to engine light diagnosis, the next type of service offered by service centres across the country is called, "major service".
  • The good thing is that it has all the content of the "safety service" and several others as well that can make your vehicle even more flawless and perfect.
  • This service has to be availed every 24 months or at least, every 30000 kms or whatever comes first.
  • The content is same as we saw in the former one and there are some other inclusions too that are not associated with the most basic one, i.e. safety service.
  • This would include steps like checking the engine management system, a diagnostic scan and fault code analysis, replacement of the air filter, re-gas A/C, replacement of the external fuel filter and non-platinum spark plugs.

Level 3: Premium Service
  • This service is much better than both of the above-described one and has to be availed every 36 months or at least 45000 kms.
  • This version would include every step included in the two services discussed above, the safety service and the major service and other than this, there are a number of other inclusions as well.
  • First of all, in a premium service you’ll get your brake fluid checked that is considered very important by some and non-important by some.
  • However, it is very important because if you don’t change it you run the risk of microscopic particles of rust wearing away your vehicle parts.
  • Additionally, with a premium service you should get your coolant replaced and several other steps would also get included in the same.
