Types of Commercial Windows Available For Commercial Properties

by Andy Lawerence Windows and Doors Installation - Nuview

Windows are an integral part of any building structure, regardless of whether it is used for residential or commercial reasons. They help by regulating the airflow in any kind of structure and also act as a significant support for the building structure. Commercial windows particularly have to be chosen more carefully, as they play a significant role in transforming the interiors. They also regulate the heat flow, air control, the natural light and make the building energy-efficient.

Commercial windows are responsible for enhancing the beauty and looks of any commercial building, and hence, they have to be chosen very carefully. In terms of selection, the buyers have to consider the material used in their manufacturing or production. Several materials are used, and we explore some top ones in this article.

Aluminium

Commercial windows Sydney made from aluminium have frames built out of this metal. Aluminium windows are common in residential and commercial buildings and are known for their sturdiness, long-lasting build and no maintenance requirements. If designed carefully while keeping modern trends in mind, these windows are beautiful and highly effective for residential and commercial buildings and, particularly, offices.

Laminated Glass Windows

These windows are constructed by pasting two panes of glass while keeping a thick piece of plastic between them. This plastic sheet has the role of keeping these two panes glued together. The result is an even stronger window pane, and there are other benefits as well. The best feature of laminated glass is that when broken, the glass does not shutter as sharp pieces or tiny shards. In fact, the glass keeps sticking to the plastic sheet, and this prevents severe injuries in this situation.

Tempered Glass Windows

According to those offering commercial windows services, tempered glass is also given the name of toughened glass, and it is made using the thermal temperate process. Initially, the glass is heated to around 1200 degrees Fahrenheit, and then, the external surface is cooled immediately. This results in a strong compression effect that makes this glass extra stronger than all other types present in the market.

Australian Building Regulations say that you can use tempered or toughened, or laminated glass as commercial windows in your commercial buildings. The toughened glass is stronger than the regular glass used in our windows, like annealed glass. Another benefit is that even if the glass cracks somehow, it will shatter into tiny pieces rather than risky, sharp shards. This way, it minimises the risk of serious injury to anyone around the commercial windows.

Glazed Windows

The term ‘glazing’ is used to denote the process where two glass panes are fitted in one frame with a slight gap between them. If two glass panes are used, it is given the name of double glazing, and in case three glass panes are used, the name will be triple glazed windows. The benefit of double glazing and triple glazing window is the increased insulation and enhanced safety.

It is also proven that these solutions trim down noise pollution significantly due to the gasses filled in between. Inert gases like argon and krypton are considered the best, as they are dense and act as an insulation barrier that prevents noise and heat from transferring.

Windows That Can Be Distinguished By Their Appearance

Fixed Windows

These windows have panes fixed to the frame, and there is no complex mechanism to open or close them. The role of these windows is to allow natural light and air to enter the building.

Sliding Windows

In this version, some mechanisms allow panes to move while the frame remains stationary. These windows are available in two different types: one can slide vertically, while the other will slide horizontally. They are ideal for rooms and properties that are smaller and have a lesser space.

Casement Windows

This is one of the most popular types of commercial windows used in commercial buildings. They can open and close, and the motion resembles the opening and closing of doors. These casement windows can include either single or multiple window panels.
