Types of Ceramic Tile

The two major types of ceramic tile are Quarry tile which consists naturally of clay or shale while the other is manufactured by compacting clay dust. Both ceramic tile types contain glazed or unglazed subcategories.

Glazed ceramic tiles are highly recommended for characteristics like in high-gloss, abrasion resistance and slip resistance. Wetness turn High-gloss ceramic tiles slippery, so many architects avoid them for flooring. People like hand-painted glazed ceramic tiles for their beautiful graphics, but they the glaze is likely to get worn and dull sooner.

Rustic tile It is the color pigments doping the tile clay that gives the tile its homogeneous color, some mosaic may be glazed while some may not, but both are moisture resistant and very durable.

Quarry tile where unglazed clays are the main components of the tile, that's why it color is typically gray, red or brown. Many conditions affect the final color like the natural clay color, processing temperature and fire period. These ceramic tiles are usually sealed so as to compensate its porous nature that collects stains.

Polished procelain tile The secret behind the strong and hard nature of porcelain is that its processing is done under conditions of very high temperature. This also gives porcelain a durable and water resistant nature, making them suitable for areas of high traffic or wetness.
