Treatments for Broken Tooth

by Taarika Sharma Dental Physician
A broken tooth is one of the most common problems with the patients visiting a dental clinic in Ahmedabad. There are many causes of a broken or chipped tooth, and they can present a very severe problem. A chipped tooth might seem minor but could cause other dental trauma.

Dental issues can cause you to lose confidence when seeking a job or to meet new people. While many believe that dental problems are purely cosmetic, they’re actually related to our overall health.

If you’ve recently suffered a chipped tooth, you should go to the dentist immediately to minimize additional damage. Here are 3potential fixes for your broken tooth.

A Dental Implant: When a chipped tooth causes a crack that goes under the gum line, then it becomes difficult to save the tooth, and it has to be extracted out.

After extracting, the patient is fitted with an implant.

A screw is fitted in the jaw which becomes a root for the new tooth. After that, dental impressions are taken for creating new tooth. The new tooth is then fit into the screw placed in the gum.

Implants are permanent, and with the latest innovations in the dental implant in Ahmedabad, the whole process has become minimally evasive and can be completed in only three days.

Bonding: Composite bonding is the quickest, simplest and cost-effective method for repairing teeth. Bonding can fix a gap, deformed teeth, decayed, discolored, and even a chipped tooth. Bonding is a long-lasting solution to dental issues and can last for up to ten years.

Bonding is a minimally invasive solution and causes least discomfort.

For this process, the dentist will first roughen the tooth and then apply a conditioning liquid. They will apply and mold putty to fix the chipped tooth. After the bond has dried between the putty and the tooth, it will be polished and shaped down to match the rest of your smile.

A Root Canal: If the broken tooth has turned into a cracked tooth or has broken down into the root or the pulp, then it might have to be removed entirely. You’ll have to get a root canal, and then a crown installed to keep the crack from getting worse.

A root canal is done by first clearing out all the remnants of the decayed tooth along with the nerves in that region.  Before drilling out the pulp and the nerve, the dentist will take an X-ray of the area. After this, the patient will have no sensation in the root of that tooth. This can be a painful procedure even with the application of Anesthesia.

A root canal is typically carried out when a crack or chip has led to swelling, heightened sensitivity or a toothache as that can lead to severe infection or other bone issues. A crown is usually placed in the sealed root to prevent any infection in future.

It is advisable to get your broken tooth checked as soon as it occurs because delaying the treatment can lead to other ailments also.
