"This Was Not Meant To Incite Any Religious Tensions," Says Navneet Rana on Hanuman Chalisa
by Suraj V. Digital Marketing (sr. SEO Expert)According to a latest
update, Amravati MP
Navneet Rana has written a letter to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla mentioning
about the harsh behaviour taken place during the judicial custody at Khar
police station for being from a scheduled caste.
Elaborating further, Rana, in the
letter, stated: “I emphatically state that basic human rights such as drinking
water were denied to me on the ground that I belong to Scheduled Caste (Neechi
Zaat). It's my honest and bona fide belief that Shiv Sena under Uddhav
Thackeray completely strayed from its avowed Hindutva principles for
obvious reasons since it wanted to betray public mandate and form post-poll
alliance with INC-NCP.”
"I, with the sincere hope to
rekindle the flame of Hindutva in Shiv Sena, had declared that I shall go to
the residence of the Chief Minister and chant the “Hanuman Chalisa” outside his
residence. This was not meant to incite any religious tensions," she
added.
“To my shock and disbelief, the
police staff present told me that I belong to Scheduled Caste and hence they
will not give me water in the same glass. Thus, I was directly abused on the
basis of my caste and it is only for this reason that no drinking water was
provided,” Rana expressed.

“Further, when I wanted to use
the bathroom at the night, police staff paid no heed to my demands. I was again
abused in the filthiest language...I was told that we don’t let people from
Neechi Zaat Scheduled Castes use our bathrooms,” Rana shared.
Clarifying on the act of reciting
Hanuman Chalisa outside CM Thackeray’s house, she said that the couple had
invited him for the chanting of the prayer. “I reiterate that my actions were
not against the Chief Minister. However, looking to the fact that my actions
may prove detrimental to law and order situation in Mumbai, I had
publicly withdrawn from the said exercise and declared that I shall not be
going to CM residence. I was confined with my husband Ravi Rana, an MLA, in my
house,” she concluded.
Navneet Rana and her husband
Ravi Rana were taken to the Khar Police Station on Saturday, April 23,
2022. They were remanded 14-day judicial custody on Sunday, April 24, by a
Mumbai court.
However, a day later, they have
moved the Bombay High Court seeking the quashing of the FIR registered against
them over their threats to recite the Hanuman Chalisa outside Maharashtra Chief
Minister Uddhav Thackeray's private residence. The matter has been notified for
hearing before Justice Varale's bench at 2.30 pm on Monday, April 25.
