There are two types of operating mechanism. One is by ceramic disc and the other by the spindle design. The ceramic disc is used on costly water taps for better functioning, performance and durability.

On the other hand, the traditional spindle design is for cheap taps with inferior quality. In the spindle design, the tap is attached to the valve seat through a screw thread. Furthermore, a standard water tap washer is attached to the valve seat for adjusting the water flow.
