Things To Know When Going On A Weightloss Journey

While walking on the road of a weight loss journey one is bound to feel multiple emotions. There’ll be days you’ll be excited, nervous, happy sad anxious and overwhelmed. There’ll be times when you’ll question yourself if you can do it?

But like any other goal you set for yourself, the key to achieving weight loss is persistence. Along with it, it requires determination, planning, and commitment.  Of course, it requires a great amount of self-control, but it is doable and you can start any day. 

But before you start your weight loss journey there are many things you must know. Read on to know them- 

Get Into the Right Mindset

The first 2 things that come to mind while thinking of weight loss are exercising and dieting. Though these 2 factors play a key role in ensuring your weight loss success, the one aspect people often tend to ignore is setting the right mindset.  Self-efficacy and motivation are equally important. One needs to believe in herself and abide by the weight loss plan. 

Determine Your Why

To get your mindset right and truly believe in yourself, the first thing you’ll need to do is settling on the reason you want to do it in the first place. What is your motivation? Adding a greater goal like managing diabetes, to be happier, to be healthier, to keep yourself safe from diseases, etc. will take you further in your weight loss journey. 

Be Prepared to Make Mistakes

The ‘all or nothing’ approach followed by many weight loss beginners is the no. one cause for them to fall off-track. While it’s great to develop self-efficacy, believing you are perfect is not.  Like any journey, weight loss involves you making mistakes and taking chances. There will be times when you wouldn't go for a workout, or eat a cheat meal, or go off track for a couple of days. The right approach involves getting ahead of these excuses and try again with keeping your motivation in mind.

Develop a Plan

Alan Lakein famously quoted, “Failing to plan is planning to fail.”

No matter which aspect of life we are dealing, planning is imperative and weight loss is no different. 

There will be many things that’ll discourage from hitting the gym or following the diet. The most common ones being the absence of healthy food in the house, too occupied to workout, or simply there wasn’t enough time to cook. Move past these excuses and till life really gets in the way, do not fail. Plan well in ahead and stick to it. If you are unable to formulate a plan by yourself then you must seek professional help and join a weight loss program In Delhi or any other big city.
