The Witcher Anime Film ordered by Netflix

With the success of the Witcher live-action series, the streaming giant “Netflix” has planned the latest anime motion picture from Studio Mir, a Korean animation house. They have not revealed too much information regarding the show yet. However, the anime will face a new dominating threat facing the world, as stated in a press release. It also says that the new series will make a more prominent world of its live-action show, i.e., The Witcher: Nightmare of the wolf. It is not clear that if Netflix and Studio Mir will work with each other canonically.

Also, the casts have not been announced yet. For more than a year, Showrunner Lauren Hissrich has kept such film a secret, as stated on Twitter. With this, it indicates the duration of The Witcher project’s development. The working team on The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf involves the producers Beau DeMayo and Hissrich. Besides that, Studio Mir is finest known for its well-liked and admired animated series such as Voltron: Legendary Defender on Netflix and The Legend of Korra.

Netflix stated, “The Witcher” was 2019 second most popular after “Stranger Things.” The series is currently the most demanded TV series across the globe, surpassing Disney Plus Star War show, “The Mandalorian.” They itself compared Witcher series to The Mandalorian through Google search trends information. Also, Netflix gave a chart that stated that The Witcher was in-demand higher after its launch than the other.  

Despite the release of Apple TV Plus and the debut of Disney Plus, the members grew globally on a yearly basis in the US consistently in Q4. Conversely, Netflix still failed to notice the growth of subscribers in the US during the Disney Plus launch, adding 43000 paid members during Q4. It has also exceeded the expectation globally, though, by having over 8.33 million members outside of the United States.
