by Rubi Ahsan Associate S.E.O Consultant

Costa Rica is a major tourist destination and a popular place for Americans to resist in the winter. If you plan to spend this cold season, here is a list of the best destinations in Costa Rica. But first let's start with some interesting curiosities about the country:

Costa Rica does not have a permanent army. McDonalds and Burger King have home delivery in Costa Rica Costa Rican women do not take the name of their husbands wearing shorts is a sign of disrespect Costa Rica is home to more than 5% of the population worldwide biodiversity.

25% of the country's land is dedicated to protected reserves. The country has a literacy rate of 96% and the best education system in Latin America.

The country expects to be climate neutral by 2021. Costa Rica has one of the highest life expectancy in the world at the age of 77.

If these facts have aroused your interest in Costa Rica, there is more. Volcanoes, beaches and national parks are some of the best things to do in Costa Rica.

1. Visit A Volcano

Costa Rica is the land of volcanoes with more than 200 volcanoes, some of which are even 65 million years old. The Arenal volcano is the most famous of the six active volcanoes of Costa Rica. Until 2010 Arenal broke out daily, making it a popular attraction for tourists from all over the world. While Arenal no longer shows these daily eruptions, it is still a great place to visit. You will find hot springs, tropical jungles and a silent volcano, but still very impressive. Costa Rica also houses the Poás volcano, the volcano Rincón de la Vieja, the Irazú volcano and the Turrialba volcano.

2. Visit A National Park

As mentioned above, 25% of the country's land is dedicated to protected reserves. As you would expect from such a green spot, the national parks of the country are truly spectacular. There is the Monteverde Cloud Forest, where there is always a layer of clouds above the forest. Then there is the Tortuguero National Park, an area full of water that can only be reached by boat or plane. The park is home to many turtles and can best be explored by boat. Turtles are the main reason to visit, but you can also find many species of monkeys while traveling through the park's canals. Finally, there is the Corcovado National Park, named by National Geographic as one of the biologically most intense places on earth and one of the last lowland rainforests. As proposed by National Geographic, this park is home to an incredible variety of wildlife.

3. Visit A Beach

Last but certainly not least, Costa Rica is home to an amazing array of spectacular beaches. The peninsula Nicoya and Guanacaste are at the top of this list, which houses a series of pristine beaches, such as the Tambor beach, which are the best holiday destinations. Some other nice facts: Guanacaste is also the national tree of Costa Rica and Nicoya is one of the five blue zones of the world (places where people live longer and live healthier than anywhere else).

So, if you want to see this beautiful and ecological country, pack your bags for a winter holiday and come back with lots of travel stories to share with friends and family.
