The Importance of Blue Light Blocking Glasses

by BluTech Lenses Blue Light Filter Glasses

It’s no secret that bright light – particularly “blue light” emitted from digital devices – causes harm, making it a potentially threatening public health issue. This is the reason why eyewear companies have set about to sell blue blockers to safeguard people from the detrimental effects of blue light.

But are they actually helpful?

It’s established that blue light at night can meddle with sleep and lead to a myriad of harmful consequences. However, a prolonged exposure to it during daytime is just as dangerous. This is where the blue light blocking glasses come into play. There are primarily three advantages of using blue blocking glasses. To begin with, they aid people to sleep more easily at night. Second, they lower digital eye strain. And third (and most notable), they avoid long-term damage to the eye that could result in severe medical conditions. These conditions include macular degeneration, which causes people to lose some or all of their central vision due to damage to the macula, in the center of the retina.

Blue light can also cause lasting damage to the eyes. This is a huge assertion but is supported by scientific reports. Dry and irritated eyes are familiar problems linked to staring at screens for a prolonged period. This irritation is also known as "Digital eye strain." The best way to repair it is by using blue light blocking glasses to make sure your eyes don’t get strained no matter how long you spend on your phone or in front of your computer.

As for blocking blue light while looking at screens at darkness so as to not disrupt melatonin production, blue light blocking glasses are, needless to say, very effective. Blue light filtering apps or matte screens hardly work for that purpose. Blue light is a signal that stimulates and notifies the body that the sun is up - which is why it may muddle with our brains at bedtime. Reports have also indicated that continued exposure to the blue light emitting displays can cease or limit brains from producing the sleep-inducing hormone, melatonin. This problem is likely among the most important reasons to have on the blue light filter glasses, considering people feel the consequences of a poor sleep right away, long before any possible damage may or may not reveal itself.

As is pretty evident, blue light blocking glasses are extremely practical and scientifically backed up as well. Therefore, if you have difficulty sleeping or you regularly have to put up with sore eyes and headaches from long screen time, then blue light blocking glasses might just be the perfect solution for you.
