The First 10 Days of Dhul-Hijjah

by Ady Grewal Content writer
The first 10 days of Dhul-Hijjah, the last month on Islamic Year, are the most sacred and important days in Islam. As narrated in Islam, every good deed performed during these 10 days is not only superior in the sight of Allah Almighty but also greatly rewarded. Thus, their significance can easily be evaluated.

What to do to get the most benefit out of these 10 days in Dhul-Hiijah, here’s a brief guide.

I. Performing Hajj.

Performing Hajj is top of the list in this regard. Millions of Muslims gather in Makkah for the performance of pilgrimage. It’s an obligation for all able-bodied Muslims who also have the economical means for it. However, for those who cannot go for hajj, Allah almighty has provided plenty of ways to earn the pleasure of Allah.

II. Fasting every day.

Fasting is one of the highly rewarding Ibadah in Islam if intended with honest intentions. Fasting though the 10 days of Dhul-Hijjah remains the second-best option for those who can’t go for hajj. Especially on the Day of Arafat.

III. Do a lot of Dhikr and Recite Takbeer.

Spend most of your time in Dhikr of Allah Almighty. Recite the takbeer with pilgrims. Even if you aren’t physically present there. As prophet Muhammad (SAWW) has suggested reciting as much Tahleel, Takbeer and Tahmeed as one possibly can during the first 10 days of Dhul-Hijjah.

IV. Offering the Nightly Prayer (Tahajjud).

Salat-ul-Tahajjud is performed during the last part of the night (before Fajar Prayer). In order to seek, forgiveness, blessings, and pleasure of Allah Almighty. It’s the time when Duas get Accepted. Thus, probably the best time to supplicate to Allah.

V. Sincere Repentance.

Repent on your sins sincerely. No matter what sort of life you’ve lived or sins you’ve committed, indeed Allah is the most merciful. Do Taubah and ask for forgiveness.

VI. Recite the Holy Quran.

Recite as much holy Quran as you can during these 10 days. Read it with translation. Understand its meaning and advice. Try to implement the rules in your life.

VII. Slaughter an Animal.

Slaughtering an animal is one of the best deeds one can do during these days. Sacrifice an animal – Cow, Sheep, Goat, Camel or all of them if you've got the ability. Distribute the meat in three portions – one for the needy and poor, one for your relatives and one for yourself.

VIII. Give a lot of Charity.

Do a lot of charity. Let it be in terms of Money, Food, Medicine, Clothes, Medical Treatments, or of any sort you like. Help others as much as you can.

IX. Perform Eid Prayers.

Attend Eid Prayers. It’s a sunnah of our beloved Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (SAWW). Eid is the time of joy and happiness; celebrate it with your relatives, family, and friends.

X. Thank Allah; Shukr.

Thank Allah Almighty for all of his blessings. Remain grateful, humble and polite. As its one of the most beloved acts in front of Allah Almighty.

If you are going for Hajj through hajj 2020 packages UK or not, performing these deeds in the first 10 days of Dhul-Hijjah is one of the best things you can do during the whole year.
