The available home air conditioning options
by Amili R. SEOSummers are approaching in India
and this is the time when people start looking for air conditioners to prepare
for the hot and humid Indian summers. Once an object of luxury, it has become a
necessity in today’s times. India is a country where summers are too long and
this is why investing in home air conditioning is a sagacious choice on all
fronts. So, if you’re looking to buy an air conditioner for your home, it is
necessary to have the knowledge of all prevalent options.
The selection of a particular air
conditioning unit depends on the size of the area to be cooled, the electricity
situation in the locality, the available space for installation and budget etc.
1. Window
air conditioner
Window air conditioner is the
most widely used air conditioner for installation in single rooms. In this air
conditioner all the components, primarily the compressor, condenser, expansion
valve or coil, evaporator and cooling coil are fixed in a single box. This unit
is installed in a slot created in the wall of the room, or more generally a
window sill.
The split air conditioner is
typically made up of two parts: the external unit and the indoor unit. The
outdoor unit, fixed away from the room, has components like the compressor,
condenser and expansion valve. On the other hand, the indoor unit houses the
evaporator or cooling coil and the cooling fan. For indoor unit, one won’t have
to create any slot in the wall of the room. In addition, the modern split home
air conditioning units carry tremendous aesthetic appeal and do not consume as
much space like a window unit. A split air conditioner can be even used to cool
one or two rooms.
3. Packaged
Air Conditioner
An HVAC designer will prefer this
version of air conditioner if your purpose is to cool more than two rooms or a
bigger space at your home or office. There are two probable settings with this
kind of package unit. In first case, all the elements, specifically the compressor,
condenser (which can be air cooled or water cooled), expansion valve and
evaporator are fixed in a single box. The cooled air is provided via a high
capacity blower, and it flows through the ducts placed through different rooms.
In the second setting, the compressor and condenser are placed in one casing.
The compressed gas flows through individual units, made up of the expansion
valve and cooling coil, fixed in different rooms.
Before you being meeting your
home air conditioning needs, it is necessary to consider all available options so
as to end up with the best choice.
