Structure of Cylinder Liner of Diesel Generator

by Starlight Generator dieselgeneratortech

The structure and function of the cylinder head of the diesel generator have been described in the previous article. In this article, the cylinder liner, another important part to work with, will be further introduced. Now, Starlight Power will continue to share with you the structure and function of the cylinder liner.

The structure of the cylinder liner is a typical wet cylinder liner, which is suspended and positioned by its upper shoulder. The lower plane of the shoulder is supported on the engine block, and there is a copper washer with a thickness of 0.25 in the middle to ensure the sealing of the coolant. There is a section of outer circle below the shoulder that is the positioning part with the cylinder hole of the engine block, that is, an upper positioning belt. There is a section of lower positioning belt at the lower part of the cylinder liner, which is sealed with the cylinder hole of the engine block by two o-rings, Because the structural dimensions of the original seal ring and the structure of its semicircular seal groove are not reasonable, Starlight Power began to use a new seal ring with a diameter of 140, and the seal groove on the cylinder liner was also changed to a standard rectangular structure. The cylinder liner with this rectangular seal groove can no longer be installed with the old seal ring with a diameter of 86, so please pay attention to it.

The new sealing ring is used. In the past, the sealing ring of 86 must be lengthened a lot before it can be installed into the sealing groove of cylinder liner with diameter of 154, which reduces the labor intensity of operators. More importantly, the deformation of the new sealing ring in working condition is small, which greatly improves the roundness of the installed cylinder liner bore and makes the sealing more reliable.

After long-term use, if leakage is found, it is caused by damage or hardening and loss of elasticity of the sealing ring, so it must be replaced in time. During installation, the smooth surface of the rubber water seal ring without split mold batch seam shall be evenly and tightly attached along the circumference without distortion. Improper assembly will also cause cylinder liner deformation and water jacket leakage.

If the cylinder liner is worn to a certain extent or the depth of honeycomb cavitation holes found on the outer wall exceeds 2mm, tools can be used to disassemble and replace it; If the cavitation hole is shallow, the cylinder liner can still be used as long as it is rotated 90 degrees relative to the original position for installation.

The cylinder liner of diesel generator has the following functions:

1. Together with the cylinder head and piston, it forms the working space of the cylinder.

2. The cylinder liner of the cylindrical piston diesel generator bears the side thrust of the piston and becomes the lead of the reciprocating motion of the piston.

3. Transfer the heat of the piston assembly and itself to the cooling water to ensure proper working temperature.

4. The cylinder liner of the two-stroke diesel generator is equipped with an air port, which is opened and closed by the piston to realize air distribution.

The working environment of the cylinder liner is very harsh, which makes the cylinder liner seriously worn. Therefore, the materials used for the cylinder liner should have good wear resistance, and have sufficient strength and heat resistance. In daily work, good lubricating oil and coolant shall be provided.
