Sprinkler Systems: How They Help in Suppressing Fire

Sprinklers are triggered when the temperature in a room reaches 60-70 degrees. When activated the sprinkler will spray water across the room to suppress the Fire. Sprinklers will active independently they do not go off all at the same time.

Fire compartmentation needs to be in place to stop the spread of Fire. If Sprinklers are fitted it provides Architects and Designers with more scope with regards to the internal layout of a building such as larger compartmental size, increase travel distance, and stair configuration.

New Residential Blocks of Flats over 11m high
Uncompartmented areas of shops or self-storage premises with an open plan area of over 200m2.

If you are identified as the ‘Responsible Person’ and manage the property it is important you install the right Automatic Suppression System. There are specific systems available for vulnerable and the elderly that may be suitable for your premise.
