Method 1: Updating QuickBooks

        Open QuickBooks and click on Help, then choose About QuickBooks.

        In the Update QuickBooks window, click the Update Now button.


        Make sure to select New Features, Maintenance Releases, and Reset Updates.

        Click Get Update.


        Restart QuickBooks and click Install Now if prompted to install updates.

Method 2: Moving your company file to a different location

        Find the folder on the computer where the company file is stored.

        Check the box that says "Share This Folder" and click on Permissions.

        Choose Full Control for the Everyone Group and click Apply and OK.

        Try to open the company file again from your workstation.

 

Method 3: Adjusting your hosting settings

        Firstly, open QuickBooks on your workstation and click on File, then choose Stop Hosting Multi-User Configuration under Utilities.

        On your server computer with the company file, open QuickBooks and choose Host Multi-User Configuration under Files -> Utilities.


        Now, restart both your server and workstation computers.

        Try opening your company file again.

 

Method 4: Configuring your Windows Firewall settings

        Firstly, press Windows + R and type Control Panel in the box.

        Then, hit Enter and search for Windows Firewall.

        After that, proceed by clicking on the Allow an app through Windows Firewall option.

        Now, click the Change Settings button.

        Then, select the box under the public list for the QuickBooks application.

        If you don't see QuickBooks, click on the Allow another app option and find QuickBooks.

        Click OK and choose the public option for the application.

        Click OK again.

        At last, try opening your company file on your workstation and see if the Error H505 still appears.
