What Is Soil Nail Retaining Wall?

Soil nail retaining wall is reinforced by natural soil nails through itself and combined with sprayed concrete panels to form a similar gravity retaining wall to resist the earth pressure behind the wall to maintain the excavation surface. The soil nail wall is set by drilling, inserting reinforcement, and grouting.

Generally, we use mortar anchor, driving angle steel, and coarse steel bar to form soil nails. The method of soil nailing wall is similar to that of the shotcrete reinforcement used in mines to reinforce rock mass, so it is also called shotcrete reinforcement slope or shotcrete retaining wall.

What Are Self-Drilling Rock Bolts?

The self-drilling rock bolt is composed of a hollow bar (which is used to grout), a drill bit (which can be selected according to the geological conditions), a coupler (which can connect several hollow bars if the single length cannot meet the requirement), a nut, a plate, and a centralizer. Unlike traditional rock bolts, it can combine drilling, grouting, and anchoring in one process.

The self-drilling rock bolt is safe, efficient, and convenient. It is suitable for broken rock, loose soil, and geological conditions where is difficult to drill holes. It helps to ensure the anchoring effect in complex ground conditions and achieve the best construction result.

Self-drilling rock bolt has a rich variety of drill bits, and the drill bit can be selected according to the properties of rock and soil.

A self-drilling rock bolt system can fill cracks, consolidate rock mass and soil layer through pressure grouting, and has good grouting spreading radius and reliable anchoring quality.

The hollow anchor bar can be cut arbitrarily and lengthened by the coupler. Therefore, it is suitable for construction in a narrow space that the large equipment cannot enter.

Self-drilling rock bolt has a faster drilling speed. When processing in the strongly weathered siltstone, it can drill about 500m per day.

It has good corrosion resistance and oxidation resistance when hot-dip galvanized or coated with resin and is suitable for coastal and other corrosive environments.

Used as soil nails, the self-drilling rock bolt is through the composite soil based on the active control mechanism to enhance the stability of the slope soil itself. It not only effectively improves the overall stiffness of the soil but also makes up for the weakness of the soil with low tensile and shear strength.
