Signs your Car Radiator Needs to be Replaced

by Aarush Khatri Sales Manager
With the passage of time your car radiators age and when they age like any machine would, it starts causing issues. You should pay attention to the maintenance of your car radiator. When maintained well, it will run smoothly for years without causing any hassles. There are times when fixes work and it is good to function, but after a certain point of time, they need to be replaced. Radiator suppliers suggest that you should replace your car radiator, if need be. But the question is how you would know if your car radiator really needs a replacement.

Here are few signs that indicate you need to replace your car radiator-

1. Leaking Coolant
One of the major reasons behind the failure of your coolant is the leaking coolant. It could be because of a crack. If you spot green liquid under your vehicle, you should get your car inspected to find out the leak. If you take it to a garage the automobile engineer will perform a pressure test to determine the source of leak. More often than not, the leak is in the hoses. You should replace hoses from time to time to ensure your radiator runs smoothly.

2. Rust
Rust can cause serious problems to the cooling system. A piece of rust falling into the engine will produce a thick liquid when it gets mixed with the coolant. When the rust gets mixed with the coolant it also produces sludge which causes corrosion. If the rust has already damaged the radiator it must be replaced. If not, then you can flush the entire radiator to get rid of the coolant that has acquired rust.

3. Thermostat Going Bad
If the thermostat fails, it can lead to many problems. Thermostat helps the radiator function properly. One of the major reasons why your engine overheats is the thermostat. If you see your car overheating at a fast pace, it is a sign that the thermostat of your vehicle isn’t functioning properly.

4. Water Pump Failure
According to radiator core suppliers, the cooling system is unable to pump the coolant throughout, if the water pump fails. The coolant circulation not working the way it should will cause the engine to overheat. Water pump failure is among the most common problems behind the radiator failing.

5. Any Sort of Obstruction in the Cooling System
Obstructions in the cooling system will cause blockage in the passages. When an appropriate flow of coolant is not received by the engine and radiator, it will start causing problems. In such a situation, you might need to replace the radiator, if it cannot be fixed. Radiator core suppliers suggest you to take your car to a garage on a regular basis to keep such problems at bay.
