Should you buy Bose Frames Tempo?

Sunglasses with built-in headphones have become quite popular in recent times. One of the well-known recent additions in this category is the Bose Frames Tempo which is made primarily with a focus on sports. Although the original fashion-focused models failed to impress, with the recent rise of virtual-training significant improvements are expected in the new models. As far as the audio of the built-in headphones is concerned, they do deliver clear and crisp audio, but when it comes to bass, they seem to be lacking. Although there are improvements in the newer version and a few of the issues are addressed still the audio experience seems to be unimpressive. 

Design

The new Tempo frames have a sporty build, and they are aerodynamic, lightweight, to ensure that they serve the exercise focused needs of the customers. To make things clearer, the sunglasses don’t come with in-ear phones but instead have small speakers near the ears that serve as personal speakers. Even people nearby can hear the sound but a little less loud than the one wearing it. However, the speakers do make the sunglasses look big, but they are not as heavy as they might appear. Each of them weighs somewhere around 1.6 ounces, and they all come with different sizes and shapes. 

For moderate exercise, the sunglasses are great as they allow a very comfortable experience while one is jumping or running; however, depending on size, those experiences might vary and may be different for different people. They also have interchangeable lenses and come with scratch-resistant plastic while the frame is made up of TR-90 Nylon which makes it robust, durable and flexible. The sunglasses come with a moderate water resistance rating, and they can withstand light rain, but one must avoid too much water pressure.

You can use the sunglasses to answer or end calls, or you can increase or decrease the volume using the button on the frame. They were without any technical hiccups, and the touch-sensitive surface works flawlessly. The battery of the sunglasses lasts somewhere around 9 hours as estimated by Bose, but it may vary depending on the volume or other factors. 

Performance

As mentioned earlier, the bass response of Tempo is not that great, and it struggles to perform with the particular genre of songs. However, if you don’t have much deep Bass tracks, then you might enjoy the sound quality since the audio is crisp and clear. The most impressive aspect of the sound is the ability to hear both the song and the surroundings simultaneously, ensuring that one aware of things around them. At moderate volume levels, one can easily listen to the sound of approaching vehicles or sirens. The mics too function well, and one can hear every word. If you have a good network, then won’t have any issues taking calls with the sunglasses.

Final Verdict

Bose Frames Tempo is a great sporting smart sunglass option for its price of $250. There are also other options, but none of them can compete with Tempo in design and audio quality. Even though they are not great when it comes to bass, other than that, there is hardly anything to complain about. The mic too does a great job, and one can use it for calls without hesitation. So, if you are not certain whether to go for Bose Frames Tempo or not, you need not worry about the sunglasses anymore they won’t disappoint you.
