by Lillie Oliver Taking Care of Business
Have you ever felt like giving up on your dream to create the life you desire?  As far as I am aware, no one has ever just woke up to being full fledged in the  dream life they wanted without ever having gone through  development stages.  It may serve you well to acknowledge that not only do developing stages of  obtaining a dream often leave you feeling doubtful, but that they are also inevitable.  There will be uncharted territories, dark grey areas of uncertainty, and shaky grounds to overcome. When you decide to keep moving forward you are traveling the journey of overcoming obstacles and insecurities. This is also a huge part of the rewarding feeling when finally reaching your desired out come.

The following list are seven woes and seven reasons to keep moving forward. They cover some of the most common reasons why people give up and quit  trying to achieve their dream(s).

Feeling a lack of  progress?  Measure your progress levels and know your strengths and your weakness.  You may be making progress in one area and lacking in another. In your areas of weakness you may want to seek assistance. Most often you’ll discover that you aren’t great at everything, and trying to do it “all” can lead to a relentless amount of tiny increments in progress. If you insist on doing it all yourself steady keeping mind that in time you ma find you are doing tasks with more ease and in less time.   So long as you are making progress keep moving forward and you’ll eventually get there.  If you aren’t having any progress whatsoever, it may be time for you to evaluate how you are going about things. Starting over is not as bad as staying steady on a dead road to no where.
If It is a matter of motivation and feeling tired of trying or if you are experiencing a lost interest. Try surrounding yourself with things and people who keep you inspired, focused and more educated. Listen to inspirational radio, TV, audio books, or pod casts as you work on your daily tasks. The mind is a powerful tool. When directed, focused  and taught in your area(s) of interest you are able to stick with things with an added enthusiasm and confidence.
Is procrastination and not getting the work done causing self doubt? procrastination is habitual behavior and habits can be broken. Never give up on yourself because you haven’t developed the habits to get to where you want. Know that bad habits are breakable and new habits are makeable.  Procrastination is a challenge for almost everyone at some point in life. The difference between those who concurs procrastination and those who stay under it’s spell is in their realization of the nature of habits. You can change a habit   aggressively or with subtlety.  Just remember, habits don’t like to be broken and resist being developed, so expect a challenge. You have heard the saying “You can do anything you put your mind to” right? Well put your mind to the matter by letting it sets the rules and your habits will have no choice but to follow.
If feeling overwhelmed with all you have to do and/or learn, getting organized helps structure a plan of action. Putting your plans in writing and listing your daily plans will help you narrow down tasks and help you stay focused. This is where you will be monitoring your progress levels as well.
You may feel like throwing in the towel due to lack of support from family and friends. Not everyone may see your vision and sometimes your loved ones are simply concerned that you are taking the wrong path. Don’t  dismay this is just something that happens. Following step 2 is a good idea. Being around people who are doing or have done what you are focusing on is a great strengthener.  This can be done off and on line. It can also be done by reading books by people who have done or have done similar things like  what you are attempting to accomplish.  Believing you can achieve your goals is necessary so don’t dwell on what make you lose faith and seek those who inspire you to keep it.
Scattered interest can leave you feeling like you can’t make up your mind on what, how, or where exactly to take action in order to reach your desired goals.  Just choice one plan of action at a time and work it. Follow step 4 and put a time limit on your plan if necessary. If you don’t have success with it you can adjust it and try again. Make sure you are giving your plan(s) a fair chance for success. Also notice what your strengths and progress levels is in your weaker areas. Overcoming distractions takes a discipline where you’ll have to tell yourself “no” and just keep moving forward with the plan at hand.
Are you feeling your creative juices are on “E”?   A wise man once told me that my struggle with producing creative writing was due to being over tired and constantly distracted by the people around me(mostly my grandson). As I thought about it I realized developing creativity  would take some cultivation. Quiet time for me is an absolute necessity.  Healthy eating, relaxation, a walk outside and aroma therapy are also great for developing creativity.  When it comes to cultivating creativity it will vary according to the individual. Just remember to find and take are of what ever works for you on a regular basis.

Don’t give up on your dream(s) because it takes work to achieve desired outcome. Be mindful that it takes a journey of ups and downs to travel the road of success. Also keep in mind, just as getting to your desired outcome may not be as easy as you had thought, getting beyond the pitfalls for achievement may not be as hard as think either. To get to where you want to be,  you’ll have to take the steps to keep moving forward.
