Rockstar’s Rumored VR Game Could Be a GTA 6 Spin-Off

by Nishant Gujjar SEO Executive

Almost every gamer must have heard about the Rockstar Games, the maker of the Grand Theft Auto and Red Dead Redemption. Rockstar Games is one of the best game production companies that has developed some of the best-known games of all time. The level of the plot which it narrates through its games is not hidden from anyone. In the previous years, it has released some of the best VR games like The L.A. Noire:

The VR Case Files that has a brilliant game plot based on a crime. In the game, you play a role of an investigating detective who investigates suspects, searches for pieces of evidence related to the murder, moves through various suspected places, fights with the obstacles which appear in the form of corpses. There is no doubt that the Grand Theft Auto 6 is one of the next big projects of Rockstar Games. The game is currently under development phase, as reported, but as per the new LinkedIn post by the much-admired developers, it seems like they are also working on a new VR game for the same or different franchise. What conclusion related to GTA 6 can be made from that post?

Video Games Deluxe, the developer of L.A. Noire: The VR Case Files, announced that the studio was working on a new AAA VR project. The announcement was made on their LinkedIn post in June lately stating clearly that:

“Having finished the critically well-received L.A. Noire: The V.R. Case Files, we are now gearing up for a new project, a AAA open-world title in VR for Rockstar.”

Notably, the studio works exclusively for Rockstar out of Sydney, Australia. It also has several jobs available in design, animation, and programming. However, the publisher Rockstar Games has not announced this mystery project like the Grand Theft Auto 6. Both of them are yet to be announced by Rockstar Games. It is hard to assume that both of these, the GTA 6 and the mystery project on which they are working, might be different, but in the same way, we also cannot come to a direct conclusion that both of these games are the same. We can just assume that “AAA open-world title” in VR, as posted on the LinkedIn post of the developers, could be some kind of Grand Theft Auto spin-off title. It seems pretty exciting to hear about one of the projects Rockstar is working on next.

Already a variety of leaks have been released, but they may or may not be trustworthy. In April 2020, a report by Kotaku did a confirmation that Grand Theft Auto 6 is in active development, and the development is on full swing. But later, the statements by others claimed that the game was still in its early development phase. However, it was summoned up late in May 2020 that GTA 6 could be released around 2023 due to a financial statement from Take-Two Interactive. Even this was also later denied by the publisher, and also, we have seen that a new partnership of Rockstar and Video Game Deluxe has not been mentioned in any report yet, throughout all of this. We are not sure if this new mysterious AAA open-world title will be part of a new franchise or part of one of Rockstar’s series like GTA, Red Dead Redemption, and others. But if it gets released in a year or two under the franchise of Rockstar Games, it will give more leeway to the Rockstar Games to release Grand Theft Auto 6, even a bit later than expected period.

In total, we will recommend you not to expect a new VR game. It can simply be assumed that the publisher might have other titles in the row that might get released before the release of GTA 6.

However, there is no official announcement or hints on when the GTA 6 or this mysterious AAA open-world title will get released, so it is hard even to guess the dates. We will recommend you not to worry about the release dates, but instead, you should be excited about the new VR game that has been announced, which might become a part of the GTA series.
