      Cream cheese softened

          8 oz

      Unsalted butter, softened

        4 cups

      Vanilla extract

        1 teaspoon


Recipe for traditional Red Velvet Cake:


  • You should preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C)—also, oil and flour in two 9-inch round cake pans.


  • Further, put all the dry ingredients: flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and cocoa powder in a large mixing bowl. Then,  mix them well. 

  • In another bowl, you have to whisk all the wet ingredients together. Like vegetable oil, buttermilk, eggs, red food colouring, vanilla extract, and vinegar. You have to make sure that all the ingredients mix well.

  • After that, you have to mix both the wet and dry ingredients together. You should mix the ingredients well until well mixed and smooth.

  • Once both the dry and wet ingredients blend properly. Then put equal batter in both the cake pans. For a smooth finish, you can use the spatula.   

  • Then, place the cake pan inside the preheated oven and bake it for 25-30 minutes. To check whether or not the cake baked properly you can insert the toothpick inside the cake. If the toothpick comes out clean your cake is baked properly else bake for some minutes.

  • When the cake bakes properly, let it in the cake pan for 10 minutes to cool it. After that, transfer the cake to the wire rack to cool it completely.      

  • For the cream cheese frosting, put softened cream cheese and butter into a bowl and combine until smooth. To blend it properly you can also your whisker. Gradually add the powdered sugar and beat until smooth. Then, add in the vanilla extract.

  • Once the cakes have cooled completely, spread a layer of cream cheese frosting on top of each layer of the cake. Put the second cake layer on top and finish with the remaining cream cheese frosting.

  • For garnishing and giving your cake an exceptional look you can add cake crumbs, chopped nuts, and other decorations to your cake. It is a complete option.
