Reasons
This error code appears on the screen whenever an accounting task related to the company file fails. The following are the most typical causes of this problem, which prevents you from accessing financial data in the company file:
- QuickBooks cannot trace a path to the data file due to an incorrect location mentioned in the software or insufficient folder permissions.
- The company file that causes this error is damaged and fails to run in your QuickBooks.
- The company file size is too large (greater than 3GB), which causes problems while running the file.
Solutions
Solution 1- Ensure the company file exists in its default location mentioned in the software
- Go to the search panel on the taskbar and type your data file name with an * mark at the front.
- Open the file’s location from the search results and right-click on the company file.
- Select Copy in the options and go to C: Users\Public\PublicDocuments\Intuit\QuickBooksXX\Company files.
- Press Ctrl+V to paste the company file here and relaunch your QuickBooks.
- Open the company file again from its default location.
Solution 2- Mend your damaged company file using the QB tool hub
- Launch the QB tool hub and click the Company file issues menu located at the top.
- Click the Quick Fix My File option in the list.
- The tool usually takes 20 minutes to fix the file, after which you can open it in your QBDT without issues.
