Preserve “Organic”, Say NO to Preservatives

As health, fitness and well-being move the forefront of people’s concerns, so does the food they consume. The new trend in food consumption patterns both globally and in India is all about “organic”. Millennials are willing to shell out a little extra cash as long as the benefit they receive is more or less, proportionate to the price they pay.

The problem arises when businesses see this as an opportunity to exploit people by labelling products that contain artificial preservatives as “organic”. Food preservatives that pretty much negate most of the nutritional benefits delivered by the product.

Then again, we aren’t here to explore the subject of ethics or question businesses. We’re here to tell you what organic is and where the best place to buy organic food is. So, without beating around the bush too much, let’s dive right into it.

Organic food is defined as food produced by methods that comply with the standards of organic farming. But that definition doesn’t really help us when it comes to purchasing a product, now does it? The word organic implies that the goods were manufactured without the use of chemical fertilizers, pesticides, food preservatives or other artificial chemicals. It’s food that’s 100% natural and is completely chemical free from the source to the store.

The tricky part about switching to an organic diet is decided where to purchase the food from. Well the answers really quite simple, it’s NOT about where you buy it, but solely what it contains. So, take a good look at the nutrition label on the packaging to take a call on whether the product you are buying is as healthy as you perceive it to be.

And, if that doesn’t work, you can always pick up a bag of organic wheat parotta or organic Malabar parotta from iD Fresh Foods. Traditionally prepared with fresh ingredients and no preservatives in the organic food.
