Prepare your yard for the installation of a pool

by TM Maria Be a king in your own kingdom

This week, I offer you some tips to prepare your yard for the installation of your new pool! Quite frankly, I strongly suggest you discuss with your installer to prepare your property. Here are some basic tips to follow.

Choose the location of the pool

The first step is the most important. It consists of determining where the pool will be in your backyard. There are a few things to consider when deciding on the best place to install it. First of all, your pool must be on your land ... This may seem obvious, but make sure that the part of the land where you install your new pool does not belong to the city or to your neighbors. Then your yard or the pool must be fenced to comply with safety rules.

Finally, the goal is to maximize your yard. So, do not put the pool in the center to avoid rendering the rest of your yard unusable!

Preparation of the ground and leveling

To prepare the ground for a swimming pool, remove the peat on the entire surface where it will be installed. It is important to remove the grass in an extra 1 to 2 feet area to give you some play. For example, if your above ground pool is 21 feet in diameter, remove 23 to 24 feet of grass.

This surface must then be well leveled and then covered with a crushed rock (rock dust). The goal is to obtain a difference in height of 2 to 3 inches between the highest point (the outer tower) and the center (the bottom drain). Your surface should then be well compressed and leveled. Start with an area 2 feet wide located around the edge of the future wall of the pool. You will understand why soon. When your preparation is completed here is a summary of the steps that the installer will follow. This way, you will be able to keep an eye on the work (or at least ask the right questions!).

·        Installation and assembly of the bottom drain

·        The assembly of the filtration system
