Great Sources of Protein

Here are some of the protein sources that you can choose from:

  • Nuts and Seeds – You can choose among the numerous varieties such as cashew nuts, brazil nuts, walnuts, pistachios, and even almonds. You can have 3g-5g protein per serving with these.
  • Oats and Buckwheat – When it comes to Oats, you can have 10g protein per 100g. For Buckwheat, not only does it provide fiber, you can have 5g protein per 100g.
  • Pulses – Among these are the baked beans, chickpeas, garden peas, and lentils. You can have your protein with 7g-10g per 100g serving.
  • Quinoa – This is one of the most popular proteins added when it comes to Vegan Diets, this is because this protein contains all 22 amino acids. If you are able to cook 100g quinoa, you can have as much as 4g protein.
  • Tofu – This all-around protein can be eaten fried or even baked. You can have 8g protein per 100g of tofu.
  • Vegetables – When all is said and done, you can have your vegetables to gain protein.

How Much Protein Do We Need?

It depends on various factors. Vegetarian Resource Group mentioned the following:

For Athletes – For every pound, around 0.36g-0.86g of protein is needed
For Non-Athletes – The amount of protein needed is 0.8g per kilogram a person weigh (0.36g per pound a person weigh)

The Importance of Protein

Protein means ‘primary’ in Greek,  this is why protein plays an important role in maintaining our energy level as well as our actual physical structure.

Protein is important when it comes to our growth, it helps maintain communication with our organs and cells, and provides assistance with our body’s biochemical reaction.

Why Plant-based Protein Is Better

It might look complicated when it comes to gathering this information.
But the important thing is that, there should be varieties of proteins such as seeds, grains, beans, and vegetables in our Vegan Diet plan.
