When you think of starting an eCommerce business, the first thing that comes to your mind is “Amazon”. Until, unless you are the forerunner in your niche when eCommerce took shape, you have no future with Amazon. So, what should you do? Start your store where your products will be seen and not crushed by competition.

The key is to find the right niche that sells well but has no competition. These are some helpful tips to help you get started:

Survey What “Clicks” With The Buyers:

Yes, getting into the buyer’s head can you give you that niche. What is it that buyers purchase online? One good way to find out would be to find what online shoppers are looking for via the Google Keyword tool. Another method would taking a survey. You can use free survey creation websites. You can also make use of social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter to get an idea about what “sells” the most online. But remember when you search, make sure that the “keyword” is more targeted but less crowded. It means that you don’t have too many people competing for the same even as it receives a lot of clicks.

Don’t Run In The Rat Race:

When there is too much competition, there is a back door open. So, if you are selling a product and the same one is available on Amazon then you should give it up. Selling new, unique products that don’t have too much competition should be your niche. It doesn’t mean they should be unpopular. Your ultimate goal should be to rank well in the Google page rankings. You can do it without being one of the sellers on Amazon or that one seller who wants to compete with Amazon. For example, you can sell “Unique Christmas Gift Items” and not gadgets, watches or other such products with high competition. Get Your Own Keyword Niche:

After you have analyzed the competition and found a unique niche, it’s time for the competitive keyword hunt. Use search tools that give you the best searched and low competition related keywords for your niche. There are chances that the basic ones have already been used by yor competitors. So, if you are selling anti-ageing cream then select your specific target concerning age group, demographics etc. This will help you make more sales.
