Working process

The Emitter is connected to the negative terminal and the Collector is connected with the positive terminal. If the radiation frequency of the incident ray on the Emitter is higher than the threshold frequency then photoelectric effects start.

● Exposure meter the Exposure meter plays an integral role in a camera for creating a good photograph. This exposure is inversely proportional to the intensity of the light.


The exposure meter which decides the correct exposure of a picture frame is consist of photocells. These photocells are connected with the batteries in a series to get the power supply. The intensity of light is directly proportional to the current produced in the photoelectric cell.


● Burglar alarm a burglar alarm is a device that indicates any suspicious activity or any thief for safety purposes. One of the main components of this burglar alarm is the photovoltaic cell. This work with the indication of infra-red rays.

If the continuous incidence of this ray gets hamper due to some suspicious activity, then the alarm starts ringing.
