Pentecostal Church: A Path for Renewal Movement

Christianity is the religion whose foundation is the miracles and teachings of Jesus.   There is another group in the world which is working on the renewal movement of the Christianity (Pentecostalism) and believes in the experience of the believers who feels the presence of God in their life. Independent churches and parachurch organizations run this movement. The characteristic of this movement includes the use of spiritual gifts like speaking in tongue and divine healing. Pentecostal Church is the first religious groups to appoint women into leadership roles.

There are three segments or drivers behind running the renewal movement of Pentecostal churches- Holiness (faith), finished work (belief of sanctification) and Oneness (state of being unified). These segments believe in the return of Jesus Christ and hence become missionary driven.

Beliefs:

The beliefs of Pentecostal churches are not against the Christianity, but their opinion differs in some manner. Pentecostal Churches in San Antonio Texas follows the beliefs as mentioned in the holy book “Bible” which are as follows:
  • Christianity believes in the concept of Trinity (three persons within a God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit). But this movement believes in One God. Jesus Christ is the one God manifested in human form
  • The Pentecostal people believe in faith and divine healing. They think that although medicines play an important role in staying healthy, God is the critical source for all kind of healing. Christianity does not believe in divine healing.
  • Unlike Christianity, the Pentecostal people participate in foot washing. It is also called Maundy and is considered as a ritual just like baptism. To promote this rite, Pentecostal churches hold an annual Maundy service on New Year.
  • Pentecostal churches practice the concept of modesty for both man and woman. Shyness can be concerning appearance also. For a man, the hair should not cover the top of their ears and should not reach to their shirt collar. A woman should not wear pant, jewelry, and makeup. She should not cut her hair. The lower edge of dress should be below the knee and the sleeves should touch the elbow. Women cannot swim with men and both men and women should not allow going for movies, sports, and dancing.
  • Christian denominations explain that conversing in tongues is experienced by those who have been saved by their god. But Pentecostal denominations feel that the ability to speak in tongues is not essential for salvation. They believe that tongue is a private prayer language.
The crux is that the movement runs by Pentecostal churches is not against the Christianity or the BIBLE book. The movement is just an enhancement of the beliefs written in the holy book BIBLE. It encourages its members to do the following things:
  • To share their shreds of evidence with others
  • To live their lives with an eye
  • To encompass great works as part of the "Spirit-filled" life
  • To be open to leading the movement through charisms, signs, and wonders
  • To support the activity of church through the regular offering of part of their income
By sharing their experiences, the Pentecostal church believes in expanding its roots as well as to bring people into a beautiful relationship with God through Jesus Christ, in the power of the Holy Spirit.
