by Indira IVF Indira IVF Center For IVF, IUI, ICSI Treatment
Overview
PCOD stands for the polycystic ovarian disease. It is a hormonal disorder which affects a woman in her reproductive age. It is said to be a common health condition that has a major impact over teen and young women. When women contain a number of small cysts in the ovaries, such conditions are raised. A woman's reproductive system gets controlled by the complex interplay of different reproductive hormones like a gonadotropin-releasing hormone, progesterone, estrogen, follicle stimulating hormone, and luteinizing hormone. When an imbalance occurs in such hormones, it leads towards hormonal disorder like a polycystic ovarian disease among women of reproductive age.

PCOD Problems
PCOD is termed as a common disease heard in today's younger generation. It is important for young girls to have knowledge about such things and they understand this disease at an initial stage, like its complications and future implications. PCOD can create problems like infertility, menstrual irregularity, breast cancer and an increased risk of endometrial that is the inner lining of the uterus. Such diseases are also responsible for causing acne, unwanted excess hair growth on face and body, problems in conceiving a baby, increase in weight especially around the waist, irregular period cycles, dark pigmentation of skin around the neck.
Some other symptoms can also be noted like oily skin, migraines and heart trouble. Even bouts of depression and mood swings can be termed as milder symptoms of this disorder. If periods are irregular on a larger basis and are not corrected over a long period of time, there can be a risk of uterus cancer to go up.
Things like unhealthy lifestyle, lack of exercise, intake of fast foods and pollution can be those things which promote PCOD. For some women, this disorder is diagnosed when they are attempting to get pregnant as we said that it can cause problems with fertility. Instead of checking with ultrasound, PCOD can be conducted by blood tests that contain insulin and hormonal checks like testosterone.

PCOD Diet
1. With the help of adequate exercises and the right diet, a woman can lead towards improvement regarding PCOD. It is important to include fruits and vegetables in the diet instead of those things that can create a negative impact to your health.
2. It is a suggestion for PCOD patients to keep away from trans-fats, fatty food, and high sodium. There must be a presence of diabetic diet and constant effort towards losing weight.
3. It is better to avoid hydrogenated and saturated fats. Saturated fats are found naturally in many foods but most often in animal or dairy-based products. Saturated fats can be responsible for increasing calories and cholesterol.
4. Patients suffering from PCOD may experience water retention. One of the best ways will be eating small frequent meals and drink more and more water throughout the day.
5. If you are a non-vegetarian candidate, lean meat like fish can prove to be helpful. You can restrict sugary foods and drinks if possible. If not, try to make a limit on such things.
6. Everyone knows the importance of exercise in our lives. Especially for PCOD patients, it is very crucial to exercise for an hour or half of it. Performing it in a nice way can reduce the insulin resistance of the body. High insulin resistance can be responsible for causing a person to be overweight. It can also cause darkening of the skin and originating more testosterone.
7. Natural products are always essential for our body in different cases. Here in PCOD, there are some natural herbs like meetha dana, cinnamon, and flaxseeds that will assist a woman in controlling their hormones.
8. There are different types of cereals, pulses, fruits, nuts, dairy products and vegetables that need to be taken if you want to get rid of problems like PCOD. They can assist you in making your body healthy and fit.

PCOD Treatment
Though it is said that PCOD usually doesn't contain any medical treatment, there are chances to make a control on it by a multidisciplinary approach involving the dietician, endocrinologist, gynecologist, dermatologist and infertility expert, but it can't be completely cured. Weight loss can create an impact on the women who are suffering from PCOD. Even a 4-5% reduction in the body can initiate a correction in the body. Rest of the treatment is symptomatic most of the time. Medication is available to balance hormonal to correct skin treatments for acne, hair growth and pigmentation, irregular cycles and fertility drugs for infertile patients. A woman can get able to cure this disorder by controlling her lifestyle management.
