AN OVERVIEW OF ICSI TREATMENT - INDIRA IVF

When attempting to conceive a baby, couples generally ignore infertility issues. The statistics depict around 14 % of couples going through the state of infertility. Who needs to undergo ICSI?

· Low sperm count: When the fluid called semen contains fewer sperm than normal. It can also be said that if the sperm count of a person is less than 15 million per ml of semen then it will be considered as oligospermia or low sperm count. The stated condition can lower down the chances of parenthood and raise the state of male infertility. In the case of oligospermia, a couple can take help from ICSI clinics to treat this issue.

· Azoospermia: Azoospermia can also know as nil sperm, where the fluid (semen) contains no sperm. It is a state in which there is an absence of sperm in semen. It may occur due to obstruction in the reproductive area or due to the inadequacy of sperms. In order to achieve pregnancy, assisted reproductive technology is being adapted. The extraction of sperms can be done surgically or may be provided by the donor to attain artificial insemination.

ICSI process:

As stated above, the process of ICSI is just similar to the IVF. Both the process is attained in the lab with the help of experienced embryologists. Under ICSI, a single sperm is taken to transfer directly in the female’s egg. The process initiates with stimulation of ovaries so that the eggs can be developed. Further, egg retrieval process takes place then eggs are fertilized with sperm. Later on, the fertilized egg (embryo) is being transferred to the female’s uterus.

Is ICSI effective?

The ICSI treatment is used to enhance the effectiveness of sperm in a male. If remained successful for the men with low or nil sperms. This treatment is not generally used for a man with good quality sperm but it is used for the men do not have sperms in semen or less sperm. With the help of technique, a lot of couples have fulfilled their dream of parenthood. The said process is safe, easy and effective in case of male infertility.
