Organising The Cables of A PC

by Gerry Griffin Owner
Most of us often like to keep cable management as the last step of organizing a desktop computer, the reason being as simple as our preference for organisation and cleanliness. Not only does it helps to impart an uncluttered and tidy look to the space, but also makes it easy to locate wires when there is a need to upgrade or troubleshoot.

Many lay builders often ignore the task of cable management, as to them it seems too complicated and cumbersome. If you take time for organizing the build, however, it would save you a lot of hassle later on after the PC has been set up entirely.

Given below are the steps for managing the wires of a PC:

Pull Extra Cabling : Gently pull on the cables passing through the grommets and make sure that front part of the case remains clean and tidy. The power supply must be installed in such a way that none of the wires criss-cross each other. Untangle them if that is the case and start fresh.

Group The Cables : Assembles the wires into groups, but do not tangle or overlap them. Secure them together using zip ties and pass them through the tie down points visible on the case. If there are no tie down points present, the best alternative would be to form a slim and neat profile.

Collect The Excess Cabling : Gather all the additional wires in a different group and gently tuck them into some unused place of the case. This place would probably be either in the front of power supply or the mount of the hard drive.

Keep It Pretty : Continue to arrange the wires with the help of zip ties until they attain a pretty and tidy look. Each one of us have a different idea about cable management so be experimental and unique. Once you are satisfied with the end results of your hard work, make sure that any extra wires are hidden and not in view from the facade of the case. Close the panels on the side after that.

Use A Cable Grommet for The Other Cords : For arranging the cords from the monitor, keyboard and mouse, install a cable grommet on the desk and then pass those wires through it. Close the lid of the grommet after that. You can also group them under the desk and put cable ties around them to impart a professional and uber clean appearance.
