Myths About Facebook Advertising

by Jeremy Banks Evolutesix
If you’ve come across plenty of articles on Facebook business advertising, you might have taken some tips that may or may not be true. Unfortunately, there’s no way to tell which is which because results may not always appear right away. So before you spend more cash on techniques that make big "promises", familiarize yourself with these myths first.

Myth 1: Use Photos of Smiling People

Users are more likely to respond to happy people, they say. But an image works best for ads because it captures the user's attention, especially if it’s something they would want to see. So you might want to rethink using that stock photo of the smiling lady.

As much as possible, your ads should scream why your users should take interest in your product or service. Tell them what they can get when they click on your ad. People are only interested if they know they can get something in return.

Myth 2: Invest in Page Likes

Page likes can help expose your brand, but your ultimate goal is to create conversions. That means a page liker won’t always become your customer. Chances are your posts won’t even be seen by your followers because organic reach is plummeting.

At the end of the day, the numbers that do matter for your ads are not the likes on your page . Rather, it is the engagements and clicks your ads receive.

Myth 3: Boosting Posts Is Like a Facebook Ad

Sponsored content isn’t actually the same as Facebook ads. However, boosting posts does require shelling out cash to reach your target audience. But unlike ads, boosts are done on your existing content as a way for you to generate more engagements like comments, shares, and reactions.

On the other hand, Facebook ads is a method of advertising on Facebook. This involves using a lot of helpful tools and options for your campaign.

Myth 4: Facebook Ads Are Expensive

We hate to compare because they aren’t comparable, but Facebook ads is much more affordable than Google AdWords. Running ads on Facebook can be only costly if you’re not generating leads and conversions.

You must always have a plan before setting up your ad campaign, as this can make or break your ads’ effectiveness.

Myth 5: B2B Businesses Can’t Advertise on Facebook

Facebook is user-centered, but ads for B2B businesses can still capture clients’ attention with the right approach. More or less, the people on LinkedIn are also on Facebook. This can be your way to create a professional image on all social platforms. Facebook is the second best B2B social networking platform, only after LinkedIn.

Countless articles can have you believing successful Facebook business advertising is either next to impossible or way too easy. It’s good to familiarize yourself with myths that mislead you to guide you in your next campaign. When it gets too tough, you can always ask a Facebook ads company to assist you with your needs.
