Modest Choices
by Richard Lawrence SEOThe
definition of a modest swimwear simply goes this way: Modest swimwear is any
clothing that is appropriate for the beach, water park or pool. What is
considered modest varies from family to family, person to person, and religion.
To put
this in perspective, the following is a definition of immodest clothing. “Immodest
clothing is any clothing that is tight, sheer, or revealing in any manner.”
Young women are enjoined to avoid wearing short shorts and short skirts.
Likewise, they are prohibited.
Young
women are also lectured by their church elders that they should avoid short
shorts and short skirts. They are likewise ordered not to wear shirts that do
not cover the stomach shirts that do not cover the stomach.
Uses
A
swimsuit can be worn like undergarments in certain sports that require a
wetsuit like water skiing, scuba diving, surfing and wakeboarding. Swimsuits
can also be worn simply to display the wearer’s physical attributes.
This is
usually done in occasions like in beauty contests and bodybuilding. They also
are used in glamour photography and magazines like in Sports Illustrated featuring
models and sports personalities.
Variety of styles
Today,
there is a very wide coverage of modern swimsuits available. It varies mainly as
body coverage and materials with either famous personalities or unknown models
selling the garment’s brands.
The
choice also considers the occasion. For
example, whether it is to be worn for a passive occasion like sunbathing or
activities like surfing or swimsuit competition. Some are for specialty
magazines that feature the body and not necessarily the apparel.
The
garment usually covers the wearer’s crotch area. Males usually show off the
chest area while for females, they at least cover the nipples.
Modest swimwear
For
some people, immodest clothing is anything that does not cover the stomach, and
clothing that does not cover the shoulders or is low-cut in the front and back.
For the
most part, modest swimwear is any clothing that is appropriate for the beach,
water park or pool. However, what is considered modest varies from family to
family, person to person, and between religions.
Moral views
Most of
our moral views have been unconsciously handed down to us after hearing our
parents and how they view modesty as a whole. This is most pronounced when
regarding the very skimpy clothing we wear when going swimming.
In the
olden days, the criteria are very stringent. Scandals happened because people’s
perceptions were very unforgiving at that time.
In any
event, in these times, our views differ most of the time with that of the other
person next to us. The best that we could get is that modest swimwear is a
dress that is suit able for the beach or the pool. The only visible thread is
that it varies from person to person.
Today’s choices
There
are already a lot of options available to the modern woman who what to go
swimming, especially those wanting more coverage than a bikini for their modest
swimwear.
The
current thought is that when you find a suit that’s stylish, comfortable to
swim in and easy to wear, you have a winner. The following are some of the
several other choices today when it comes to getting the right bathing suit
that’s modest and modern.
One-piece swimsuits
Sometimes
called maillots, these are one-piece suits that are easy to slip on and won’t
slip off. They can be compared to a bikini, but they look better than the
much-flaunted old bikini. One-piece swimming suits are more figure-flattering, looking
slimmer, and providing more coverage. For a cute modest bikini swimwear, this
one is a good go-to choice.
Tankinis
Besides
the unique name, tankinis are basically a two-piece bathing suit with a tank
top and a swim bottom. They look flattering for people with long torsos. They
are easier to put on than a one-piece and easier to go to the bathroom in than
a one-piece.
Tankinis
also give you more styling options because you can mix and match tops and
bottoms, stylistically or by colors and materials.
Monokinis
With a
monokini, you get some of the benefits of one piece, but you are able to show a
little more skin. As it is, they are more unique and amazing-looking than the other
swimsuits.
Sometimes,
the monokinis cover the belly button. At other times, the belly is vulnerable and
they cover the belly button and other times they show it.
Midkinis
These
cuties are two-piece swimsuits and are more conservative than your average
bikini.
They
have high waist bottoms and the tops are usually longer than a bikini top. Similar
to the tankinis, midkinis also are flexible to mix patterns and styles.
Swim skirts
A
unique bathing wear is the swim skirts. Swim skirts cover up your hips without
sacrificing on style. They simply look great for moms after they have had
children.
Swim Shorts/board shorts
The
board shorts of women are much looser than your average swim bottoms. They vary
in length, some are shorter and some go to the knee. Some people prefer to put
these on when they get out of the water.
Swim dresses
With
the exception of the burkini, they are very modest and will provide you lots of
coverage. They are usually made from the same material that swimsuits are.
Some
swim dresses come with leggings and others require the wearer to put on them on
over another swimsuit.
Rash guard tops
Rash
guard tops provide extra sun protection. The more the coverage is, the less the
sunscreen. If you are sun-sensitive, this one is a huge help to guard your body
against the onslaught of the sun’s rays.
Swim leggings
These
leggings are worn while swimming. You’ll see surfers wearing them, but they’re
not alone. Some women wear them when they feel terrible and miserable about
themselves after having a baby. With the swim leggings, they get back their joy
in enjoying playing in the water.
Burkini
The
term burkini is a word mix of the burqa and the bikini, worlds apart before but
are now conjoined. Wikipedia defines the burkini as a suit that covers the
whole body except the face, the hands and the feet.
