Mega Con Artist Exposed

by Bruce Bates Cooperative marketing

I ask everyone not not only give this post a thumbs up, but also share the post on other social networks, with your mailing lists, and everyone else you can. We as marketers and business professionals can not continue to allow con artists and scammers to ruin the internet marketing field. Please help me expose this very clever con artist.

I visited a post today shared with me on twitter. The title of the post had me curious as it was labeled with a scam warning. So I was expecting to read about the latest of scams - perhaps something about profit sunrise or hourlyrevshare or any number of emerging HYIP scams. What I found however was something much worse.... it was a scam, claiming to explose a scam.

The blog post in question can be read at http://enfordummies[dot]com/wordpress/scam-warning-this-is-exactly-what-the-scammers-do-be-aware and it was written by a scammer going under the name Ben Davis.

The scam he claims to expose is a facebook scam where some guy with a random fictional name makes a post trying to get others to email him promising them traffic. Now in this article Ben claims the facebook scammer is trying to get you to  give him $1000 under the promise of joining him in a cooperative (of all things... go figure).

Now he has screenshots of this guy asking people to contact him, the replies he gets, and basically how the guy goes about it. Then he follows it up with a video..... and thats where things get really interesting.

He claims this guy goes to a very specific website, which of course he names the url of in his video. And he claims the guy buys this huge traffic package and basically just keeps all the traffic for himself.

Now the weird thing is, the guy tells you "just go to the site yourself and buy the traffic". Sounds like logical advice right? Until you realize in the video he is showing prices of $9,000 for 6000 website VISITS!

Seriously folks, this guy basically owns two accounts, one he claims to expose, the other gets you to go buy traffic at a site he likely owns at REDICULOUS prices. I mean SERIOUSLY REDICULOUS prices.

I buy an average of 1000 hits for $4.95. This is INSANE!

As if thats not enough, the guy is promoting Empower Network! (I really have nothing against empower network.... but it is the snake oil product of the marketing industry in my opinion).

This is a program that sells for $1000 and offers you training worth about $100. They sell you blog hosting for a fee that is 10 times more expensive that of hostgator which is around $5 a month and thats even $5 more than somewhere like byethost. A free service.... for something like $50 a month....

This is truly the con of all cons.

Claiming to bust a scam so you get people to buy into your scam..... all while selling a 3rd party snake oil product.

What is the marketing world coming to. ~sighs~

Thanks for the info Bruce, it takes experience to start to see what people are doing. Back 12 years ago when I started I know I paid RIDICULOUS prices and never knew better. Such a waist of money.

Valerie, thanks for the comment. Sadly even some of the most experienced fall into these modern day scams, but this one I think most of us with experience would laugh at. I mean $10k for 6000 visitors? Come on... thats not even trying to hide what you are doing... just going after new marketers. And the fact he promotes Empower network.... says it all. As even if one likes empower network they must realize its filled with new marketers ..... sadly all ripe for this guys picking.

I just hope to reach a few new marketers and help them avoid this type of crook. I have never seen anyone go to such lengths for a scam honestly - he needs exposed. :)

Why are you deleting my comments Bruce? You do not want people to know how absolutely wrong you are?

Ben you are 100% new to Apsense... and you are right I didn't look close at your program I just stated I have been, seen many ripoffs in the leads area. Question I could send any site right now a million hits that would mean nothing. What are your leads worth?

Ben, you are not doing yourself any favors. I removed your comments because you are troll in an attempt to get more hits to your latest post. I won't remove this one as you didn't add your post, and you are actually asking questions not trolling. When you troll I will delete.

All leads are not equal. If it is a targeted ‘Hot’ lead from your demographic you will pay top dollar. The insurance industry will pay up to $25 per pre qualified lead. Yes $25 for one lead. But when I say I can send your site a million hits (true statement) they will look at your website for one maybe two seconds and 99% of those hits are not looking for what you are selling. I know you are thinking that 1% of a million is ok but of those people, they are going to give you 1 second to make the sale. One blink. I have a very hot list in the action sports industry. I sell my leads for more than Ben Davis is selling his, but my buyers are happy and get their money back in sales.

So again I ask you BEN DAVIS what are your leads worth?

Unfortunately the the online marketing world is filled with so called Gurus which are in fact wolves in sheep clothes. Skilled to play the emotions of people like dreams, fear, uncertainty and greed. Many people turned to the internet in an attempt to make some money to pay the bills. Most of them jump in without any research or experience. It is in humans nature to believe what one would like to believe is true. Especially in desperate financial situations. Which is of course 'make loads of money without experience while you sleep'. They only have to follow the Gurus lead. Somehow $$$ signs wipe away all common sense. "10.000 of people can't be wrong" is a line you often see. Well they can be. I have seen many programs disappear, go down or taken down by the government during the years. Therefore the title Guru has a negative ring to me personally nowadays because many so called Gurus make money over the backs of others. I am glad that I am connected with people that know what they are talking about and give solid advice. Bruce is one of those.
